March 18 2010. We began with the astronomy Club, whose main purpose is divulge the astronomy between CIO members, share knowledge and experiences about astronomy, do observations with telescopes and binoculars, rediscover night sky and have fun.

Another activities related with the club are talks and conferences about astronomy by guests, researchers and CIO staff, and club members. We also are planning visits to observatories, and a workshop focused to build telescopes.On Thursday, March 18 the club was honored to open the activities with a talk given by Dr. Daniel Malacara, who talks about telescopes and mainly of his first amateur observations. In the first month of the club, moon observations were done, looking over its surface craters and plains. Vesta asteroid, Venus and Mercury from the top of Cerro Gordo hill were observed too. Night-out observations to the sky away from the city lights were organized during the summer.
